Protect Your Dealership From Freezing Temperatures

The temperatures are steadily dropping in most parts of the country which means it’s time to prepare your dealership or service center in the event of a harsh winter freeze.

First things first, perform routine maintenance of the buildings and property:

  1. Check the seals around windows and doors, and repair or replace the weather stripping as needed.
  2. Trim back dead and damaged tree limbs to prevent any damage to buildings and cars during a winter storm.
  3. Wrap the exterior pipes to prevent them from breaking.
  4. Clean the gutters and remove debris to prevent ice from forming.
  5. Have your HVAC system checked and serviced as needed.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best:

  1. Back up documentation and important information to the cloud in the event of a power outage.
  2. Consider hiring a snow removal company to clear the walkways, car lots, parking lot, and entryways after a storm.
  3. Create an emergency kit with winter supplies.
  4. Stock up on nonperishable food items and water to be used if anyone is snowed in.

Protect your employees by providing outdoor heaters and encouraging them to take indoor breaks throughout their shifts.
